This report will be updated whenever the Mad Hatter or the White Rabbit tell me to...

01/30/25 The rain didn't bring as much as forecast. About a half inch for the week. Three tenths of that this morning. The weekend is looking good with most of Thursday and all day Friday for things to dry. Saturday afternoon and Sunday should be good to go, with the usual caveat of be watchful for clay sections on Black Trac, Rabbit Hole, and Sofa King that could be slick.

01/23/25 Trails are in great shape and afternoons are tolerable temps with a light jacket. Weather Friday is looking good. Slight chance of rain late on Saturday, continuing through Sunday for 0.5 inches forecast overall.

01/17/25 Conditions are great, but, that may not last long. Friday and Saturday are reasonable temps, Sunday might require a few layers. After that all bets are off for the following week with freezing temps and the promise of snow in the forecast. We'll see if that happens. Come get some.

o1/10/25 Rain total was 1.3 inches yesterday. Good news is the wind will be blowing strong all day Friday and this should help with the drying. Higher temps today might make Sunday a good day. I'd expect puddles and advise being watchful for the red clay. Keep in mind there will be a Commercial being shot in the Campground on Sunday. They may want to stop riders on that section during scene shots. If so, please treat them with courtesy. If I get trail reports from riders I'll post up.

01/09/25 Current forecast is for 1.56 inches of rain today. Yuck. With the low temperatures and clouds through Friday the moisture is likely to be slow in evaporating and soaking in. I'd suspect that by Saturday there will still be plenty of puddles and may be sticky clay in places if this forecast pans out. Sunday might be a little better, though it could be prudent to avoid Black Trac and be careful when crossing exposed clay sections.

01/06/25 Recently there was announced on the Rocky Hill Facebook accounts about the trails being closed to Day Use on Saturday the 11th. That has now changed.

Trails will be open to Day Use all weekend.

On SUNDAY the 12th there will be a film crew shooting a commercial on Grey's Highway near where Corkscrew crosses onto Mini-Me. There will be caution signs and some temporary reroutes to keep riders and the film crew safe and out of each other's way in the campground. There will be NO route changes nor crew to watch for after all.

01/02/25 Happy New Year! Weather has been mild and no rain. The loop is in great shape and has had quite a bit traffic this week. Cooler weather coming next week. This weekend RHR will be visited by participants of the Excruciation Exam. The trails will be open to Day Riders during the event. Please yield to racers and leave the ribbons and other course markings in place if you want to cross them. The section of Rabbit Hole on the opposite side of the new asphalt driveway is temporarily closed while the paving sets. Please do not cross the asphalt until the trail has been reopened.

12/27/24 The slight rain earlier in the week is drying. Riders reported today that the trails are in great shape, with a few puddles here and there. These may be gone by the weekend if the sun is shining, temperatures are moderate, and the breeze continues to help the process.

12/25/24 Trails are in great shape and the storm front managed to avoid making a mess of things with under a tenth of an inch of rain. We have a temporary issue with water at the restrooms/showers that should be resolved in a day or two. Plan accordingly. Weather is looking great into the New Year with moderate temperatures and clear skies.

12/17/24 Trails are getting better every day this week. They will be very nice for Fat Chuck's Revenge, the TMBRA event on Saturday. We put in a wider and sturdier replacement bridge on Reveille's Romp just after The Wall. This is the 2nd of the two bridges on that feature. Riders have been out to pre-ride every day this week. Looking at the returning bikes, they have the usual debris from splashes, but no clay accumulation. With two more days of drying it should be very nice riding for the racers, and for day riders on Sunday. Weekend temperatures will be perfect for riding, but may get chilly if you stop to chat. So, just keep riding, right?

12/14/24 RHR saw about a quarter inch of rain overnight Saturday morning. This will have left some of the clay areas sticky or slippery. Probably want to give Blac Trak and Sofa King a day of no rain before riding. Most other trails should be okay, possibly with some standing water in places. Higher temps today and tomorrow might accelerate the drying process if rainfall expectations remain at the hundredths of an inch level.

12/11/24, Riders today gushed about the trail conditions. They loved it, said it all hooked up very nicely.

01/17/25 Conditions are great, but that won't last long with encroaching Winter weather coming. Get some riding in while you can. Friday and Saturday are going to be great. Dress warm for Sunday. After that, all bets are off. We'll see if we actually get some snow per the forecast.

12/10/24 A rider reported that today it was a little sticky in places, but thinks it should be fine by Wednesday. With the wind blowing all day I expect the Rocky Hill blow dryer to be doing its job nicely.

12/8/24 Another 0.8 inch fell on Saturday. Trails should recover by Tuesday or so.

12/6/24 About a half inch of rain early in the week. High humidity and low temperatures hinder drying of the trails. A rider reports that most of the trail is okay, but avoid the Red Clay as it is slippery and sticky. So, Black Trac through Sofa King should be avoided. Another tenth inch of rain in the forecast for Saturday. Low temps and wet conditions may not be prime riding for most. However, this moisture will provide for some excellent riding in the coming week as the trail conditions improve.

9/14/24 No rain this week to speak of. Riders are reporting excellent conditions and grippier surface than expected.

9/4/24 There's been a little rain in the area over the past couple of days. The weather station next door shows a little over a tenth of an inch. This will tighten up things and make the trail surface optimal. Another tenth of an inch is forecast for Thursday, so the conditions for the coming weekend should be fantastic. We a slowly working on trimming, but the volunteers are few and far between in the Summer. As the temps come down expect to see more trail work accomplished. Please visit the Support RHR Trails tab for information on helping out.

9/2/24 Currently there is rain forecast for mid-week, and the coming weekend (9/7-9/8) is looking like another great combination of clear weather, reasonable temperature, and good trail conditions for late Summer in Texas. A couple of volunteers did some trimming on Pams Picnic, Holdens Way, Mini Me, and Tristy today. Thank you!

Labor Day Weekend '24 was splendid at RHR, low temps and dry conditions with recent rain earlier in the week to tighten up the loose stuff.
